Create photographs that help people recognize the person behind the work.

Your images often introduce you before anyone hears you speak or experiences your work.

For artist Eva Davenport, JKS developed portraits shaped by personality, movement, and the natural environment of Boston’s Arnold Arboretum.

Eva Davenport artist portraits

Services

Portrait photography, creative direction, and image development

Individual portrait projects start at $1,550.

The problem: the images don’t fully express the person

A professional or artist may need photographs for a website, announcements, press materials, or upcoming work.

The challenge is to create a useful set that feels connected and recognizable. That requires choices about setting, expression, composition, and how the person is directed during the session.

The strategy: let personality shape the photographs

JKS combined conversation, natural light, movement, and environmental portraiture.

The Arnold Arboretum provided the setting, while John’s direction made room for expressive and spontaneous moments. The resulting images connected the visual treatment to Eva’s presence and artistic identity.

What JKS delivered

  • An artist portrait session.

  • Creative direction during photography.

  • Environmental and editorial portraits.

  • A coherent visual collection.

The outcome

The completed portrait collection presented Eva through imagery grounded in her personality and artistry.

The case demonstrates the photographic approach and finished work. It does not attribute bookings or audience growth to the photographs.

Where this can lead: visibility, growth, and support

Visibility

Give websites, announcements, and profiles a consistent visual introduction.

Growth

Build an image library that can support future releases and promotional materials.

Support

Make it easier for collaborators, organizers, and media contacts to represent the person accurately.

A broader project could coordinate portraits with performance footage, an interview, or a refreshed press kit.

Start with a defined project

Individual portrait session — starting at $1,550

Includes a planning conversation, up to two hours of photography at one outdoor or client-provided Boston-area location, ten edited images, web and high-resolution files, and one consolidated correction round.

Editing preserves the subject’s appearance. Studio hire, hair and makeup, multiple people, extensive compositing, and additional locations are priced separately.
