Puss and Pages™ Agreements

Puss and Pages™ is a private adult social book club and creative community operated by John Kind Studios LLC. These agreements establish the expectations for membership, participation, privacy, creative ownership and recorded sessions.
Please review these terms before submitting a membership request.
Acceptance of the Member Agreement and Community Standards does not automatically grant membership. Participation in a recorded gathering requires separate acceptance of the Recorded Session Media Release.
Member Agreement and Community Standards
1. Eligibility and membership approval
Puss and Pages is for adults age 18 and older.
Submitting a membership request does not guarantee admission. John Kind Studios LLC may review applications for alignment with the community’s purpose, safety expectations and available capacity.
Approved access is personal to the individual member and may not be transferred or shared with another person.
2. Community purpose
Puss and Pages exists to support reading, writing, cats, conversation, creativity, networking and genuine social connection.
The community may include:
Weekly virtual gatherings
Private Slack discussions
Reading and writing activities
Games and casual conversation
Cat photographs, stories and introductions
Member-created writing and creative work
Guest authors and speakers
Community events and outings
Publishing and promotional opportunities
Puss and Pages is a social and creative community. It is not therapy, counseling, veterinary care, crisis intervention, medical care or legal advice.
3. Respectful participation
Members must interact with one another respectfully.
The following conduct is not permitted:
Harassment, threats, intimidation or bullying
Hate speech or targeted degrading comments
Sexual harassment or unwanted sexual communication
Repeated boundary violations
Stalking or unwanted personal contact
Deliberate disruption of gatherings or community spaces
Fraud, impersonation or misleading representation
Pressure to purchase products, services or opportunities
Sharing illegal, exploitative or intentionally harmful material
Members are not required to agree with one another. Disagreement must remain respectful and consistent with the purpose of the community.
4. Privacy and confidentiality
The private Slack workspace and private gatherings are intended for approved members.
Members may not, without permission:
Screenshot private conversations
Record private gatherings
Copy or repost private messages
Publish another member’s personal story
Share another member’s contact information
Forward the private Slack invitation
Invite unapproved people into private gatherings
Publicly identify someone as a member
Quote another member outside the community
Members may share their own experiences, writing and contributions, but they must not expose another member’s private information or participation.
Puss and Pages cannot guarantee that every participant will follow these rules. Members should use reasonable judgment when deciding what personal information to share.
5. Slack access
Slack invitations are sent privately to approved members.
The invitation must not be posted publicly, forwarded or used to admit another person.
Members are responsible for maintaining the security of their own Slack account and notifying Puss and Pages if they believe their access has been compromised.
Access may be suspended or removed when a member violates these agreements, creates a safety concern or repeatedly disrupts the community.
6. Promotion and solicitation
Members may share aligned books, readings, public events, creative work and opportunities in the appropriate community spaces.
The following are not permitted without approval:
Repeated unsolicited promotion
Mass direct messaging
Pressure-based sales
Recruiting members into unrelated programs
Collecting member information for outside marketing
Misrepresenting a personal offer as an official Puss and Pages opportunity
Participation does not give a member permission to use the Puss and Pages name, logo, membership list or community relationships for independent commercial purposes.
7. Creative ownership
Members retain ownership of their original writing, books, photographs, artwork, ideas and other creative work.
Sharing work inside Slack or during a private gathering does not transfer ownership to Puss and Pages or John Kind Studios LLC.
Members must not copy, publish, adapt, sell or claim another member’s original work without permission.
Members are responsible for ensuring that material they share does not knowingly violate another person’s copyright, privacy or ownership rights.
8. Community publishing opportunities
Members may be invited to submit original writing, book recommendations, author news, personal reflections, cat stories, photographs or profile ideas for public consideration.
Submission does not guarantee publication.
Before publication, Puss and Pages will establish the approved material, attribution, editing permissions and promotional use with the creator.
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, the creator retains ownership of their original work.
9. Events and third-party locations
Some activities may occur through third-party platforms or at bookstores, cafés, cat cafés and other public venues.
Members are responsible for following the applicable rules of those platforms and locations.
Transportation, purchases, food, personal property and individual conduct remain the responsibility of each participant unless Puss and Pages expressly states otherwise in writing.
10. Recording
Private community activity may not be recorded unless Puss and Pages identifies the gathering as a recorded session in advance.
Participation in a recorded session requires separate acceptance of the Recorded Session Media Release.
Members who do not want to be recorded may decline the recorded session and remain eligible for other community activities.
11. Moderation and removal
John Kind Studios LLC may moderate the community and take proportionate action when necessary to protect participants, the program or its operations.
Actions may include:
Issuing a reminder or warning
Removing content
Restricting access
Removing someone from a gathering
Suspending membership
Ending membership
Serious safety, privacy or conduct violations may result in immediate removal.
No refund is owed for free access. If paid membership is introduced later, applicable payment and cancellation terms will be disclosed before the member chooses whether to purchase or continue.
12. Changes to the community
Programming, schedules, platforms, features and community policies may change as Puss and Pages develops.
Material changes affecting member responsibilities will be communicated through email, Slack or the Puss and Pages website.
If paid options are introduced, members will receive advance notice and may decide whether they want to participate.
13. Electronic acceptance
By selecting the acknowledgement on the membership form, the applicant confirms that:
They are at least 18 years old.
They have had access to this agreement.
They have reviewed and accepted the Member Agreement and Community Standards.
The information submitted in their application is accurate to the best of their knowledge.
They understand that submitting the form does not guarantee approval.
Recorded Session Media Release
This release is separate from the Member Agreement. Reading this page does not, by itself, provide consent to be recorded. A participant must separately accept this release before joining a recorded session.
1. Permission to record
By separately accepting this release and participating in an identified recorded session, the participant gives John Kind Studios LLC permission to photograph, film and record their appearance, name, voice, likeness, statements and voluntary participation during that session.
2. Approved uses
The resulting photographs, video and audio may be edited and used for legitimate Puss and Pages and John Kind Studios purposes, including:
Puss and Pages trailers
Promotional clips
Social-media content
Websites and landing pages
Newsletters
Program recaps
Portfolios and case studies
Presentations
Partnership and sponsor materials
Client or program-development pitches
Archival documentation
The material will not knowingly be presented in a deliberately false or defamatory manner.
3. Editing and presentation
John Kind Studios LLC may edit the recording for length, clarity, formatting, captions, branding and distribution.
The participant understands that they may appear individually or alongside other participants.
John Kind Studios LLC is not required to use every recording or contribution.
4. Creative work shared during a session
This release does not transfer ownership of a participant’s independently created book, writing, artwork or other original creative work.
If Puss and Pages wants to publish or reproduce a complete creative work beyond what appeared incidentally in the recorded session, separate permission will be requested when appropriate.
Participants should not present confidential material or third-party work they do not have permission to share.
5. Compensation and approval
Unless a separate written agreement states otherwise, participation is voluntary and no payment, royalty or other compensation is promised for the authorized use of the recording.
The participant understands that they will not receive approval rights over the final edit, caption, layout or publication schedule.
6. Choosing not to be recorded
A person who does not want to be recorded should not enter or participate in a gathering identified as recorded.
Declining a recorded session does not automatically prevent the person from joining the private community or attending future non-recorded activities.
Puss and Pages will remind participants before recording begins.
7. Withdrawal of future permission
A participant may contact John Kind Studios LLC in writing to request that their image or contribution not be used in new materials going forward.
John Kind Studios LLC will make reasonable efforts to honor a prospective request. Material that has already been published, distributed, incorporated into completed work or shared by third parties may not be fully retractable.
8. Ownership of the recording
John Kind Studios LLC owns the photograph, video, audio recording, edit and production created from the recorded session, subject to the participant’s ownership of their independently created work.
9. Release
To the extent permitted by law, the participant releases John Kind Studios LLC and its authorized contractors from claims arising solely from the recording, editing and authorized use described in this release.
This release does not authorize uses outside its stated purpose or waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
10. Electronic acceptance
By separately accepting this release, the participant confirms that:
They are at least 18 years old.
They have reviewed and understood the release.
They voluntarily agree to participate in the identified recorded session.
They understand the permitted uses of the recording.
They understand that participation in the recorded session is optional.
